How to Generate a Chain of Custody

The Chain of Custody (COC) is a crucial record that tracks the handling, transfer, and control of samples collected from a workplace during the entire process, from collection to analysis. It ensures the integrity and traceability of the samples, providing a documented trail of custody for legal and quality assurance purposes.

Important Note:
- You must have permissions associated with the Industrial Hygiene role.
- You cannot create a Chain of Custody at a node level.
1. Chain of Custody Contents
User will have the ability to generate a COC which will contain the following information:
- IH Log number
- Plant Sample ID
- Sample Date
- Type
- Start and Stop Time
- Duration
- Average flow rate
- Sample Volume
- Media used
- Analysis requested
2. How to Generate a Chain of Custody
- Click Modules and then Industrial Hygiene.
- Click Create New Chain of Custody.
- Enter the required information.
- Click Save.
Important Note: Once created the Chain of Custody (COC) record will allow you to click Submit to Lab. This will create an electronic record that contains both the PDF and an Excel for the lab to fill the results upon analyzing them. The user will get a confirmation window and an email will be generated with the electronic (COC).
