This article delves into the implementation of an enhanced system feature—Auto Save a Question Response when a Section is Changed. Exploring the configuration details, it discusses how this functionality optimises the user experience by automatically saving question responses when transitioning between sections.
1. Auto Save a Question Response when a Section is Changed
In the existing system, all Audit Question Responses are currently saved only when the user taps on Save, leading to the issue where default responses from all sections of the protocol are sent to the server for saving, even if the user has changed only one question response. This results in unnecessary data transactions at the server, causing performance issues.
Additionally, every time the user taps Save, the system navigates to the list screen and locks the record from editing until the sync is complete for the entire audit, making it challenging for users to work section by section, especially for larger audits. Moreover, there is no indication if all questions from a section have been answered or not. The purpose is to enhance response save time and usability by addressing these issues.
1.1 Configuration Details
- Configurable: No
- Title: NA
- Public/Private: NA
- Default: NA
1.2 Enhanced System
- Audit question responses from the current sections are saved automatically (autosave) as soon as the user navigates to another section.
- This includes all default responses from the section as well as any manual changes made by the user.
- The save process continues in the background, and a success message (toast) is displayed once completed, allowing the user to continue working with the next section in the meantime.
If the user navigates to another section from a section where responses were already saved and no changes were made, no save will occur on the server. This prevents unnecessary transactions with the server. - The Save button will be visible only if there is any unsaved data on the screen.
- In case a section has unsaved default responses, it will be treated as a change, and the Save button will be visible.
- If the user taps Save, only the selected section responses will be saved, and the user will be taken back to the list screen.
- Completed sections are displayed with green text when the Section Dropdown is expanded, enhancing usability by allowing users to identify incomplete sections when expanding the dropdown.
