Understanding the incident relocation process
Who is this article for?
Users who want to understand the incident relocation process.
Incident management module permissions are required.
The new "Move Incident" feature enables quick and easy transfer of incident records to the correct location if an employee moves or an incident was logged at the wrong site. The Incident Relocation tool ensures incidents are managed by the appropriate team, with a straightforward, guided process for updating location details.
1. Incident relocation requirements and restrictions
This functionality permits the transfer of incidents between locations under the following conditions:
- Users must possess the "Move Incident" permission for the respective Incident Type (note that this permission is not assigned to any role by default).
- This feature is not available for Multiple Injury Incidents.
1.1. Incidents may only be transferred if all of the following criteria are satisfied:
- The location must be in the United States (for claim data purposes).
- The location cannot be a mine.
- Incident status must be Draft, Detail Report Incomplete/Completed, or Investigation Not Started.
- Claim status must be "Not Submitted," regardless of form completeness.
- Case status must be open, no matter the case's progress.
- If investigation is optional, Management Review status must also be checked.
- If Management Review has started for any role, the MOVE button is disabled.
- Permissions depend on the incident type.
- Notifications are automatically sent to:
The incident creator, their supervisor, the user who moved the incident, and the injured person's supervisor.
2. Incident relocation workflow
Upon selecting Move Incident, a screen will appear prompting you to choose the destination location.
- Once confirmed, the system will transfer the Incident to the destination location and save the changes.
- The incident will then be removed from the source location.
- After saving to the destination location, the system will automatically redirect the user to the Incident Detail screen, where location-specific fields such as Work Shift and Department can be updated.
