Defining question dependencies (cascading questions) in a question section of protocol

This article explains how to create question dependencies, also known as cascading questions. These allow specific questions to appear only when they are relevant based on earlier responses, reducing clutter and improving data quality.
1. Defining question dependencies in audit protocols
- Select the Modules icon.
- Choose the Audit Management menu item.
- Select the Manage Audit Protocols menu item.
- Choose the Protocol Category.
- Click the Protocol Title.
- Navigate to the Question Sections tab.
- Click the expand icon labelled +.
- In the question list, select the Add Dependency column.
- Select one or more questions that should become dependent on another question.
- Click the Add Questions button next to the relevant response of the parent question to create the dependency.
- The dependent questions will appear beneath the parent response, along with a count showing how many dependent questions have been added.
- To remove a dependency, click the red Remove text.
- A free text response question cannot be used as a parent question.
- During the audit, dependent questions only appear when the triggering response is selected.
