Understanding the previous system behaviour

Previously, when creating or editing a task with recurrence enabled, the Repeat Until date had no upper limit. Users could configure recurring tasks extending up to approximately 100 years into the future, creating an unrealistic volume of future task instances that served no practical purpose.

Understanding the purpose of the change

The 10-year limit addresses two key issues:

• Prevents unrealistic long-range recurrences by capping how far into the future the Repeat Until date can be set
• Reduces the unnecessary volume of future task instances generated by over-extended recurrence configurations

Understanding how the enhanced system works

The common date control now enforces a maximum selectable future date of 10 years from the current system date. The limit is calculated from today's date at the point of entry, not from the First Due Date or any other reference.

When you attempt to select or enter a date beyond the 10-year limit, the system blocks the save and displays a clear validation message stating that the maximum allowed range is 10 years.

The limit is enforced for both date-picker selection and manual entry, and applies consistently on both the Create and Edit flows.

Note: Because the date control is common across the platform, the 10-year cap applies to every usage of the control across all modules, including Audit Management recurrence, Event Management, and Permit Management, not Task Management alone.

Understanding the configuration and scope

The 10-year cap is a hard product-level limit that applies automatically to all customers with no configuration or custom setting required. It is not configurable per customer or per module.

Records already configured beyond 10 years remain as-is. No retroactive validation, blocking, or data migration is applied. A data review across all customers found only two such records, both in Permit Management.
