Scan the App Builder QR code with your device's camera or any scanner to open the mobile app and create a new record instantly, without menu navigation.
Understanding the enhancement
Previously, the mobile app could only scan system-generated QR codes through its built-in scanner. The device's native camera app could not launch the app or open a record-creation screen.
This enhancement allows you to scan an App Builder QR code or deep link with your device's native camera and be taken directly into the mobile app to create a new record.
Scanning a QR code to create a record
To create a new record using your device camera:
- Open your device's native camera app.
- Point the camera at the App Builder QR code.
- Tap the notification that appears on your screen.
If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in. After successful login, you will be routed to the Create New Record screen. If you are already logged in, you will be taken directly to the screen.
Understanding location routing
The QR code determines which location the new record will be created for:
- If the QR code includes a location parameter, you will be routed to that specific location
- By default, the QR code carries the location from which it was generated
- If no location is specified in the link, you will be routed to your default location
Platform availability
This feature is available on both iOS and Android devices. The behaviour is identical on both platforms, using the existing notification live link deep-link functionality to route you to the Create New Record screen instead of a record summary screen.
