Faster, more responsive platform

Previously, list and grid screens, user lookups, the Audit List and the Audit Questionnaire took noticeably long to load. Performance monitoring showed that most of the delay came from the server side, for three reasons:

• The same settings were looked up repeatedly on one screen.
• Some backend requests queued behind one another within the same session.
• Some static files weren't cached.

We've made a number of improvements to help everyday screens load and respond faster, and to make the platform more reliable under heavy use:

• The loading animation shown across the application is now cached, so it appears instantly instead of being downloaded each time.
• List and grid screens load their saved views and column settings faster.
• User lookups, such as selecting users on Calendar action items, return results faster.
• Risk ratings on hazard steps load faster.
• Frequently used settings are now read once and reused, instead of being looked up repeatedly on the same screen.
• Fewer backend requests from the same session wait behind one another, reducing slowdowns that previously affected several screens at once.
• The Audit List screen loads faster.
• The Audit Questionnaire loads faster, especially for sections with many questions.
• Permission checks at sign-in are faster and less likely to time out.
