This article details three significant enhancements to the IH Module, including the ability to select OSHA PEL as a noise setting in the Regulatory Name dropdown, the option to enter sample results in units beyond mg/m³ with automatic conversion in the application, and the introduction of noise adjustments to dose results to comply with Australia's requirements. The configuration details and the enhanced system functionality for each improvement will be detailed to provide users with a comprehensive understanding of these advancements.

1. Ability to Select OSHA PEL as a Noise Setting in the 'Regulatory Name' Dropdown
In the existing system, the current functionality lacks the option to select OSHA PEL from the dropdown menu under Duration Type for a Noise Dosimeter sample, despite it being a typical noise setting. The purpose of the new enhancement is to include OSHA PEL as one of the dropdown options under Regulatory Name for enhanced flexibility and accuracy.

2. Ability to Enter Sample Results in Units in Addition to mg/m3 and Have the Application do the Conversion
In the existing system, Sample Results are intended to be entered in mg/m³ by the lab; however, this is not consistently followed, leading to the entry of data in alternative units like PPM or UG/m³, which the system currently does not recognise. The IH Module currently lacks unit conversion functionality, prompting the need to implement the capability to calculate results in units other than mg/m³ for improved accuracy and consistency.
2.1 Configuration Details
- Configurable: Yes
- Title: Enable UOM Calculation
- Public/Private: Private
- Default: Product
2.2 Enhanced System
The enhanced system has the following new feature:
-
User Interface will now have an additional column for Lab Concentration which will display the converted Unit of measurement. The system will take these columns into consideration for calculating the sample result.

3. Make Noise Adjustment to the Dose Results as per Australia Requirements
In the existing system, the risk associated with shift durations of 10 hours or longer surpasses that indicated by the eight-hour measurement LAeq,8h due to the additional damaging effect of continuous noise exposure after 10 hours. This risk may further increase with reduced recovery time between successive shifts. The Australian Set of Standards mandates an additional dBA to be added to the result when a user works an extended shift for 10 or more hours. However, the IH Module currently calculates results solely based on the shift start time, end time (the exposure time), and dosimeter runtime, lacking adjustments based on the length of the shift. The purpose is to enhance the system to calculate results in alignment with Australian requirements.
3.1 Configuration Details
- Configurable: Yes
- Title: Enable Aus Noise Adjustment
- Public/Private: Private
- Default: Product
3.2 Enhanced System
The enhanced system has the following new feature:
- If the customer enters a shift start time and end time that indicates the shift is 10 hours (600 minutes) or more, the calculated L dB(A) would display at L dB(A) plus one, two or three based on the Australia requirements.
- Custom setting field is only when the location is set to Australia:
- The below calculation is a Custom Setting set to Yes and Adjustment Factor 1:
