Configuring Near Miss Incident Severity Classifications

This guide will walk you through the process of identifying and categorizing near miss incidents that have potential to become serious injuries or fatalities, enhancing your ability to manage near miss incidents effectively.
Important Note: As of EHS 24.2 new permissions are available that allow users to View or Edit Incident Severity Classification by incident type. Existing user roles must be updated to access this feature.
1. Configuring Near Miss Incident Severity Classifications
- Select a Near Miss Incident.
- Click Edit.
- 3. Select Yes.
- Following the general details section, you'll find the Incident Severity section. This section includes a severity field for categorizing near miss severity. Select the option labeled Potential Serious Injury or Fatality. Please note that the severity field options are configurable, so your organization might have different values. Choose accordingly.
- 5. Click Search...
Note: If configured, after selecting the severity, you'll see the Potential Injury Illness section. This section includes two fields: Nature of Injury/Illness and Injured Body Part. Choose the values that best describe the near miss incident. You have successfully identified and categorized a near miss incident with the potential to become a serious injury or fatality. Please note that, depending on your configuration, an investigation may be required for near miss incidents with certain severity values.
